Eugenio C. Labadie, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Eugenio C. Labadie, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Labadie Group came to New Orleans from San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1986. Like his brother Juan J. Labadie; Dr. Eugenio Labadie graduated from the University of Puerto Rico and specializes in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Labadie has been a premier provider for the women of the New Orleans Westbank for over thirty years and believes that patient education is the foundation of a good patient-physician relationship. This philosophy has awarded him multiple appearances in the media and in print as an expert in his field. Dr. Labadie has been at the forefront of laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for years and shares that knowledge with future physicians through his teaching with Tulane University School of Medicine. He is a Clinical Adjunct Professor with Tulane’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and he enjoys teaching both medical students and OBGYN residents. In 2014, Dr. Labadie was voted ‘Best Teacher of the Year’ by Tulane University’s graduating OBGYN residents. Dr. Labadie was elected by his peers several times throughout the years as Clinical Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at West Jefferson Medical Center; a position which he still holds to this day. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and he is a Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Labadie is a member of both the Jefferson Parish Medical Society as well as the Louisiana State Medical Society.
Juan J. Labadie, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Juan J. Labadie, co-founder and Chief Financial Officer of The Labadie Group came to New Orleans from San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1978, following an honorable discharge as a physician in the United States Air Force, and a successful stint as a private practitioner in San Juan. He graduated from The University of Puerto Rico as an Obstetrician Gynecologist in 1969. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and he is a Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Labadie rooted his career in the New Orleans metropolitan area and his service to this area has awarded him a committed following of patients spanning three generations. Dr. Labadie has received a multitude of awards, including the American Cancer Society “Spirit Award” in 2008 and “Outstanding Hispanic American Physician” in 1993. Dr. Labadie has served as a Clinical Adjunct Professor with Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology since 2006. He was voted “Best Teacher of the Year” by three graduating classes of OBGYN residents at Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Labadie served as a Board Member for West Jefferson Medical Center District One from 2008 to 2010. He has been appointed Clinical Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology multiple times throughout 1984 to 2006, for both West Jefferson Medical Center and Meadowcrest Hospitals. Dr. Labadie is a member of the Jefferson Parish Medical Society and the Louisiana State Medical Society.
Amy E. Vaughan, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.
Dr. Amy E. Vaughan serves as The Labadie Group’s Director of Obstetrical Services and initiated her medical career with The Labadie Group in 2009. Dr. Vaughan received a Master’s of Science in Pharmacology in 2002 and her Doctorate of Medicine in 2005 from Tulane University. She graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2009. During her residency at Tulane, Dr. Vaughan served as the Administrative Chief Resident and continues teaching residents to this day as a Clinical Adjunct Professor with Tulane’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Vaughan received several awards during her residency at Tulane, including “Teaching Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology”, and for “Outstanding Residency Performance in Obstetrics and Gynecology”. Dr. Vaughan is a Fellow with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Kim Anh Ngoc Tran, M.D.
Dr. Kim Anh Tran is a Louisiana native that excelled throughout her academic life. She graduated Valedictorian from Morgan City High School and went on to complete her Bachelors in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Tulane University Newcomb College. She graduated Cum laude and immediately enrolled in medical school through Tulane University School of Medicine, earning her Medical Degree. During and before completing her Obstetrical and Gynecological residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, she gave countless hours of volunteer time to a number of organizations, including mission work in Vietnam, Ozanam Inn’s TB Clinic, Bridge House, and several other organizations throughout the New Orleans area. Dr. Tran has assisted in many research studies regarding female and neonatal health, in an attempt to isolate better technologies and best practices in the medical care of mothers and infants. Dr. Tran received several scholarships and awards during her tenure at Tulane University School of Medicine Department of OBGYN, including the TOGAS award for Excellence in Resident Research, Resident of the Year – Interim LSU Hospital, and she was nominated for Tulane’s Owl Club “Best Resident in OBGYN”. Dr. Tran is a member of The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and she speaks Vietnamese.
Mary Alice DeCoursey, MSN, CNM
Mary Alice DeCoursey, MSN, CNM, is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and a native New Orleanian. She initiated her healthcare career as a Labor and Delivery nurse in 1996. In 2005, she graduated in Nurse Midwifery from Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. Ms. DeCoursey also earned a Masters in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University. She joined The Labadie Group in 2008 and offers full scope midwifery care. She also serves gynecological patients for annual wellness visits, birth control counseling, birth control maintenance, and minor gynecological problems. Ms. DeCoursey is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board. Ms. DeCoursey instructs nursing and nurse-practitioner students from several local Universities, and is an Adjunct Instructor in the Nurse-Midwifery program at Georgetown University Medical Center.
Lillian C. Funke, MSN, CMN, MPH
Lillian Funke, CNM, MPH is a Certified Nurse Midwife. She received a Master’s in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, where she was a grantee of the Maternal and Child Health Leadership Training Program, and completed her MSN in Midwifery from Columbia University in New York City in 2013. While at Columbia, Lillian served as the student representative to the Board of Directors of the American College of Nurse Midwives, and she is currently serving as Secretary for the Louisiana Affiliate of ACNM. Lillian provides full scope midwifery and well-woman care. Lillian is certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
